Triumph Car Show & Vehicle History

!±8± Triumph Car Show & Vehicle History

Triumph is a British motor company which is probably one of the oldest in the business of automobiles and motorbikes. The company was first founded in Germany but later moved to Coventry, England. In the beginning, Triumph was only involved with manufacture of bicycles and motorbikes. The Triumph motor bikes were favored by the British army and Triumph quickly became a household name.

In 1921, the company ventured into car making and released the first Triumph 10/20. This led to more successive cars which were elegant and speedy. However, in the 30s and 40s, there were far too many car companies and engineering feats had not conquered all the mechanical problems. Triumph went into severe financial hardships and stopped production for most of the 2nd world war. The company underwent more changes after the war and was finally bought by British Leyland in the 60s.

Triumph continued to make both sports and sedans and was quite successful on the domestic market. The TR7 series had many engineering problems including excessive consumption of gas and failure to run at high altitudes. This was followed by the TR8 which was more fuel efficient but had multiple breakdowns.

Triumph finally closed in 1984 and was replaced by the Rover 200. Today. BMW owns the rover group and Triumph has been relegated to the history books.

Triumph primarily failed because the engineering was second rate. The cars were frequently known to break down and even though speedy consumed too much gas. During the oil crises of the 70s, the car went downhill and could never get back on its feet. Plus, at the sometime there were many other domestic and international cars which were much cheaper and fuel efficient. Consumers in the 70s were just learning how to be energy conscious and were looking for fuel efficient cars- not gas guzzlers.

BMW has not expressed any interest in reviving Triumph. The current economic gloom has all car manufacturers on the brink of bankruptcy and no more fool hardy innovations are planned.

Choosing Portable Car Seats For Your Child

!±8± Choosing Portable Car Seats For Your Child

Choosing a portable car seat for your child can be challenging, considering the number of products on the market today. It can be hard to pick the right one, because some of these seats may be available one day, and then recalled for safety issues, or other concerns. There are some really basic things that you need to look for when choosing the right car seat for you child, and here is some advice that can help you decide which product is right for your needs.

There are many different brand names when it comes to portable car seats, but you want a brand that you can trust. Two brands really stand out, one is Evenflo, and Graco. Both of these companies have not only been in business for a long time, they are probably the safest out there on the market. While they may be a little more expensive than some, when it comes to you little one's safety, price should be a low priority. They have had little or no recalled units, and if there have been any, they are extremely good at getting any of these products off the shelves, and providing replacements to parents at no cost.

Safety is a big concern when it comes to a car seat. Make sure that you buy a seat that will hook into your existing safety belts securely, whether it is a rear or front facing seat, depending on your needs. Ideally, you want a seat that you can switch around as you child grows. There are also models that have a permanent car seat base, with the chair itself able to detach from the base unit. This can help greatly when it comes to taking your sleeping baby out of the car without disturbing them.

Another safety feature to keep in mind is the safety harness. For one, it should be a three point harness at the minimum. You need to find one that securely locks in place, is easy for you to open and close, but not for your child, even for older toddlers. Many really good portable car seats have a five point safety harness, which provides maximum protection.

Another thing to watch for is cushions that are easy to take out and clean, and other surfaces that are easy to keep clean as well. You really want the cushions to be able to throw in the wash, and made from materials that are durable. Make sure that you really look closely to make sure there are no rough or sharp edges, and that you child is comfortable, but secure in their seat.

Some of the other things that are needed with a car seat is a warranty, as well as safety certification. A warranty is important, in case there is a problem, or one develops with the seat itself. Many brands come with a standard one year warranty, but the longer the warranty, the better the car seat is made. A car seat is one of the most important safety features when it comes to your child, and picking the right one should not be taken lightly. This is why you really need to take you time in order to pick the right one. There are some really good product comparison websites to help you with this decision.
